Earlier this week, Google unveiled a feature that intertwined its products even further. Now you can receive an email in your inbox if someone sent you a message to your Google Plus account — even if they don’t have your email address.
Most people don’t like this idea, but there is a way around it. Here are the steps you can take to opt out of receiving these message:
Step 1: Go to your Gmail settings. On the top right of your Gmail home screen, click the gear button, then click “settings.” This will take you to the General settings page.
Step 2: Change the setting. Scroll down until you find the “Email via Google +” setting. It should say “Who can email you via your Google + profile?” There are four options: “Anyone on Google +,” “Extended Circles,” “Circles.” and “No One.” By default, this is set to “Anyone on Google+.” Now change the setting to “No one” or “Circles.”
Step 3: Save changes. Scroll down and click “Save Changes.”
That’s it!
